Leo el titulo,Old and new stars of Spanish winemarking, y me encuentro con el parrafo siguiente,

In famous Rioja where the names of leading bodegas are known very well, producer Pujanza will probably sound new to the lovers of the region. Indeed, first Pujanza wine was made only in 1999, but the estate with 40 hectares of vineyards at the foothills of the Sierra de Cantabria mountain chain has sold its grapes to other wineries for a few generations. In 1999 they built an ultramodern winery with gravitation forces for moving wine. All the grapes, the majority of which are Tempranillo, are hand-picked into 15 kg cone-shaped baskets and are sorted on special mechanical tables. Wines are cold-fermented on skins in specially designed low wide vats. Only 25% of the crop is used for own wine, the rest is sold off. Pujanza’s loyal following of the alta winemaking is confirmed by the fact that the wine is produced only when its quality is better than in previous year. So in year 2000 the estate did not make own wines. Also they experimented widely with French barrels from 8 suppliers. As a result they chose only three tonneleries whose barrels showed the best results. Pujanza has already got to the attention of Robert Parker so the prices of the wines will not stay long at the current level.
Rioja Pujanza Crianza 1999 is the first ever wine produced by the estate. It is an excellent example of modern Rioja with well-focused fruity flavours. With all its modernity it preserves Riojan tradition in making wines with purity of fruit. Drawing analogy between Rioja Pujanza Norte 2001 and super wines of Tuscany, this wine can be called super-riojan. Old 50-70-year old vines, 48-day maceration, fermentation in large wooden vats and aging in new French barriques contribute to the character of the wine. The key factor here is physiological ripeness of grapes. Grainy tannins are soft and ripe, and on the palate you get licorice, black fruit, spices, chocolate, coffee mocha. 2001 was outstanding for Rioja, and while Pujanza Norte is still a baby, it is already superb.
